Instapaper Pro: No-Nonsense Bookmarking for an iPhone World

Instapaper Pro has a lot in common with Delicious, the popular social bookmarking website.
With Instapaper Pro -- there's also a free version -- you can bookmark any webpage you want to read or refer to at a later time. You can also mark bookmarks to share and access bookmarks shared by others.
But while the social aspect of Instapaper Pro is something you might want to explore, this app shines most brightly as a simple, no-frills yet very efficient rememberer of things to read later.
You can create folders to save related content, adjust font and text sizes, plus there's a dark mode for night reading. Also, the program saves your position in articles you haven't been able to complete reading.
Crucially, Instapaper Pro backs up all your iPhone-saved bookmarks to the web so when you are back in front of your computer you can visit instapaper.com and read -- and save bookmarks -- there.
The program is limited to saving your most recent 250 articles but this isn't so much a restriction as a reminder that Instapaper isn't meant for long-term storage.
Unlike Delicious, which has a staff of many, Instapaper Pro is, for the most part, a one-man show. The man -- his name is Marco Arment -- seems very conscientious about maintaining and improving his product, which you can see from reading his blog or the program's FAQ.
Instapaper Pro is a marvel of simplicity and efficiency, thoughfully designed for use on the iPhone. You'll quickly find you can't live without it. [PAB 30 Jun 09]
