Apple Now Lets You Preview iPhone Apps In Your Browser

“In November 2009, Apple launched a feature dubbed iTunes Preview, which essentially enabled people to see what music is available on iTunes from their Web browser without the need to fire up – or install – the desktop software program.

At the time, you weren’t able to actually listen to a sample of music tracks from your browser, but that changed earlier this year when Web-based audio previews were quietly added (paving the way for the imminent roll-out of iTunes.com).

This morning, Apple activated the iTunes Preview feature for iPhone / iPod Touch applications in addition.

To see this for yourself, open any direct link to an iPhone app (example) in your favorite Web browser.”

iPhone Continues to Outperform Smartphone Industry Growth

“The worldwide converged mobile device market (commonly referred to as smartphones) reached a new record level in a single quarter. According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped a total of 54.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2009 (4Q09), up 39.0% from the same quarter a year ago. For the full year, vendors shipped a total of 174.2 million units in 2009, up 15.1% from the 151.4 million units in 2008. Converged mobile devices accounted for 15.4% of all mobile phones shipped in 2009, up slightly from 12.7% in 2008.

Apple’s iconic iPhone added another chapter to its short history by nearly doubling its shipments from the same quarter a year ago. Demand for the Apple iPhone continued unabated during the holiday quarter, and agreements with multiple carriers within the same market enabled further distribution. The fourth quarter also saw the launch of the iPhone at one of the world’s largest carriers: China Unicom.”

Report: Apple Signs New iPhone Manufacturer, Rumored to Work on CDMA iPhone

“Apple has reportedly signed up with a new manufacturer in China to help produce the next generation of the iPhone — Pegatron will be joining Foxconn in putting together parts for Apple’s next handheld unit, we hear courtesy of the always talkative “industry sources.” The company has been rumored to be working with Apple before, when it was suggested that they’d be working on a smaller version of the iPhone designed to work on Verizon’s CDMA network. Officially, Pegatron hasn’t confirmed any agreement with Apple, but they have said that they plan to substantially increase their output in 2010.”
